Membership: It was announced that our membership is currently 100 with three new members awaiting formal induction
Rotary Club Social: The first Rotary Social will be at the Crooked Tree Arts Center, Thursday, March 1st, 2018. It will be held from 5:30 pm until 7:30 pm. It will include five local Rotary Chapters
Spaghetti Dinner: Mike Snyder gave a summary of the Spaghetti Dinner held Thursday, February 15th. There were 836 dinners served. Doug Basel was the closest to guessing the number of served dinners with 832. The preliminary net proceeds are approximately $8,500. A big “thank you” to Reg Smith and his team which includes Kassia Perpich, Justin Blohm, Robert Rogier, Bob Metzger, Jeff Wynder, Ashley Whitney, Melissia Thompson, and others. The phone-in orders for four meals was not very successful; however, the “zero-waste” effort was
Kassia Perpich reported that over 95% of the trash generated at the spaghetti dinner was successfully salvaged for either recycling or composting. Eight 32-gallon (full) trash bags were designated for composting, one 45-gallon bags filled with cups, cans & bottles was designated for recycling, and only one, partially filled, 30-gallon bag was going to land fill. This was the first event in Petoskey targeting zero-waste. Liz Ahrens stated that Crooked Tree Arts Center will strive to be “zero-waste” this summer at D'art for Art
Foundation Pool & Raffle Tickets: Please see Liz Ahrens if you would like to participate in the 2018 Paul Harris Pool. Also, Liz has raffle tickets for $20.00 that can still be purchased
Northmen Night: John Scholten is selling raffle tickets for the Athletic Department’s annual fundraiser. Tickets are $20.00 and this year the prizes are for cash. The event is Saturday, March 3rd, 8:30 pm at Stafford’s Perry Hotel
PROGRAM:
Christian Smith introduced Kassia Perpich with the program. Kassia started with a TED Talk (14 minute video done by Kelly McDonald) developed to help us deal with stress. TED is an acronym for Tech, Entertainment and Design. The video goal was to show us how to make stress our friend. There was an active Q & A period after the video. There was discussion and support and doing this format (TED) on a quarterly basis
