PROGRAM
The first speaker today was Sherie Veramay, Senior Major Gift Officer for Starr Commonwealth. The motto of Starr Commonwealth is "There's no such thing as a bad child." Since 1913, Starr has been dedicated to helping those who need it most. The organization began with children coming to Starr seeking love, support and greater opportunities to reach their potential. Starr is working to expand its services in the areas of community-based, in-home care for children and adults, as well as education and professional training. For more information see: www.starr.org

The second speaker was George Franklin whose topic was “What they didn’t teach you in Business School and what you need to know about Lobbying”.  Drawing from his book, “Raisin Bran and other Cereal Wars: 30 years of Lobbying for the Most Famous Tiger in the World”, Mr. Franklin explained how powerful corporate interests use their lobbyists to wield influence. They impact our daily lives but who are they and how do they operate?
