Steve Cross’s first official meeting as President (he did a great Job too)

Howard Richards led us in “God Bless America”

Four Way Test:  Bob Waldvogel can’t get his first meeting as past president off

Invocation:  Stuart Fenton played a Jewish prayer for us. Very moving

Singing/Song:  Howard Richards with one of his new sidekicks Melissa Thompson led us in “House of the Rising Sun” and Smile

President Steve called on Howard to read the calendar winners.

Visiting Rotarians:  Dick Chambers, Holland, MI; Bob Swanson, Birmingham, MI; Steve Popper, Naples, FL: and Kelli Gaputis, Florence, Alabama

Visitors:  Deanna Klosinski, Cheryl Shanahan, Janet Merchant and John VanEtten, Jr.

Birthdays:

Howard Richards, Kurt Grangood and our program Sharon Schappacher all had birthdays and we sang for them

BJ Update:  Deanna Klosinski gave us an update on BJ Shawn, who had surgery and is recovering. She will see visitors but please text or call first and keep it short. The care group that we signed up for a few weeks ago will start when she is back home. If you are still wanting to get on the list, see Jane or Deanna

New Member Induction:  We also inducted a New Member. Terry Newton introduced Tom McHale and even after Terry’s lively introduction Tom is excited to finally be a member. Be sure to meet Tom and welcome him to our club

Announcements:

Sidewalk Day Sales:  Sidewalk Sales is July 27th and we need to get signed up to help. Be sure to get your name on the list. This is a fun event with great fellowship

Leadership Forum Tickets:  Chris Etienne let us know she still has tickets available for the Leadership Forum at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts on Thursday night. If you are interested contact Chris

YMCA Food Initiative:  Christian Smith let us know about a joint effort with the YMCA and the school to make healthy meals available to kids that need them during the summer. Both breakfast and lunch are available at Central and Ottawa Elementary schools Monday – Friday. If you know of anyone this would help put them in touch with the Y

Program Chairperson:  Melissa is our new Program coordinator and is looking for ideas for programs, she is thinking about themed months. If you have any ideas talk with her

New Board Meeting Time & Place:  The board meetings have been changed for this year. They will still be on the 2nd Tuesday of the month but will meet at 12:00 pm in the board room at the Perry Hotel

PROGRAM:

Sharon Schappacher, the President of the Petoskey Garden Club gave us a nice presentation about their group and all the great things they do for our community.  They maintain over 11 beautiful gardens around the city. She also said you do not need to have a “green thumb” to be a member. They will help you develop one
