"Teacher of the Year"

John Hurd presented the Teacher of the Year. The committee consists of Bob Metzger, Roger Winslow, John Hurd, Kassia Perpich. A previous Teacher of the Year from 2007, Lynn Slanec also spoke about the award and what it meant for her and also gave kudos to our current Teacher of the Year. Our Teacher of the Year this year is Karry Swanson who teaches first grade and is in her 17th year of teaching. Her mother is a retired teacher and she developed an early love of education. She is involved in many activities that promote her profession. She has a special gift in reaching her kids in the classroom and captures their attention. A check was presented to her and also a $300 check was awarded so that she can use it for her classroom.
