Today, in these times of high controversy and debate around our country, I would like to offer a couple observations about VOLUME for us to consider.

First, from a sign on the desk of a top administrator of an HBCU catering predominately to female students:

“Quiet women don’t make history.”

And then from another perspective, an observation by one of our former poet laureates, Rita Dove:

“I still believe we listen more closely to a whisper than to a shout.”
