I’ve learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you’ll miss them when they’re gone from your life. I’ve learned that making a “living” is not the same thing as making a “life.” I’ve learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. October summary:
1) Sent get well card and sent a few text messages to Elaine Keiser wishing her a speedy recovery from back surgery
2) Had club members sign a thinking of you card and mailed to Doug Basel
3) Sent sympathy card to John Logan in acknowledgment of his mother-in-law passing

Announcements:

Wreaths Across America:  Liz Ahrens announced that Bob Waldvogel will again coordinate Wreaths Across America for our Club. Save the date for this event – December 14. Bob will be in touch with details soon

Reg’s Run for Mayor:  Reg Smith thanked everyone who supported his mayoral campaign

Fundraiser for Lennox Gee:  Angie Cranney mentioned there’s a fundraiser happening this Saturday, Nov. 9 in Bay Harbor for Lennox Gee, a child with a rare genetic disorder, whose parents recently found out the disorder has progressed beyond treatment. Please support him if you can: Link

Athena Award Nominations:  Chris Etienne mentioned that the Athena Committee is still accepting nominations for the Athena Award. Nominations are due by Nov. 19. A nomination form is available on the Petoskey Chamber’s website: Link

Habitat’s New Office Space: Stuart Fenton reminded us that Habitat for Humanity has moved its office to the old Sears building on M-119. Habitat is holding an open house for its new space on Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. Swing by!

Calendar Sales: Jeff Bodette gave a calendar update. We’ve sold about 25% of our calendars so far! Our Club has extra calendars this year due to some chapters dissolving. NCMC gave us permission to sell these extra calendars at its annual Veterans Day breakfast happening this Monday, Nov. 11

Rotary Swag:  Rotary Club of Petoskey has worked with Carter's Imagewear in offering t-shirts, polo's, etc. with our logo on them.
The Rotary Club of Petoskey "online store" is now ready! Check it out...I want like, one of everything!!!

Here's how it works:

Members shop for what they want on this website.
They can pick up their order from Carter's about 2 weeks after they purchased it. It will not be shipped to their homes.

ALL SALES ARE FINAL because of the custom embroidery

Carter's feels that most of their products run true-to-size. They also have size charts for each item, if someone is unsure of what size to order.

District Governor’s Announcement:  The Burlap and Lace Foundation Gala will be held November 9 at the Park Place Hotel in Traverse City. Chris Etienne and Dennis are going. Tickets are available online at: Link

Program:  Matt Breed, Department of Public Safety

Matt gave an excellent overview of the Department of Public Safety, which provides law enforcement, fire and EMT services for City of Petoskey and parts of Bay Harbor.
