“The rule of law is a process rather than an end product. The desire for freedom and justice is a most powerful force in the lives of suffering people. We must recognize their plight, expose the human rights crimes, rescue victims from their oppressors, and let them join us in sharing the benefits of the rule of laws that provide justice and lives of quality and peace.” –1990 address on the state of human rights

Jimmy Carter

PROGRAM:  Club Assembly

At today’s meeting, President Christian Smith led Club Assembly, focusing on three potential initiatives for enhancing the club's impact. First, he discussed combining the Petoskey Rotary Club Charities, Inc. (PRCCI) and Rotary Parks funds at the Petoskey Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation (PHSACF) to streamline resources and improve efficiency.

Next, he proposed that PHSACF take over the grant application management, while the club maintains oversight and the selection of grant recipients, ensuring club priorities are met.

Finally, Christian emphasized the importance of realigning PRCCI with the club’s priorities, creating greater cohesion and strengthening the club's philanthropic efforts.

It was reiterated that changes will not be made without input from the entire membership and after thorough review of club bylaws, policies, and procedures.

Christian also requested we review and update the club's committees to ensure they align with current operations and goals. He encouraged all members, especially new ones, to consider joining a committee that aligns with their interests. See any board member for more information.

Stay tuned for more information at Club Assembly in December.
