Carolyn Tabone was the speaker today and she focused on "Stopping The Bleed" which is basic first aid to help someone who may be bleeding out. Many trauma victims need intervention with bleeding control through applying hands, dressing, tourniquet, etc. There are four basic principles to keep in mind which are wrap, wind, secure and time. It's important to not keep blood from flowing to the limb for a long period of time so it is important to let emergency personnel know how long the tourniquet has been on.
